How are we unique?
The concept behind the development of this program was simple: we are passionate about seeing children experience success in their lives. Thus, as a team of professionals we set out to create an innovative program that would help them do just that.
We've pulled together a dynamic blend of contributions from many fields including principles from positive psychology, experiential learning, group therapy, expressive arts, and social skill development. Our unique therapy model comes alive with fun activities in a "real world" setting to foster social and emotional competence.
Our curriculum was designed by neuropsychologists.
Our program is founded on research that provides new understandings of the nature of social intelligence and its relation to success and happiness. The number one predictor of children's future happiness will not be the college they attend or the size of the paycheck they bring home. It will be is the successful relationships they have with family members, friends, and coworkers. It will be the feelings generated by a sense of belonging at home, at school, and in their community. It will be the positive self-concept and feeling of empowerment they will experience when they are able to reach their goals. Therefore, these are the skills that we have chosen to focus on at TRAILS.
Our program is tailored to your child's specific issues.
At TRAILS, we believe that a team of support will better maximize your child's success. Parents are intimately involved in treatment planning and follow up and are provided with regular updates regarding their child's progress and goals. We understand a child's struggles from a neurodevelopmental standpoint and educate parents how to structure home and school environments to maximize a child's success.
Our experiential activities utilizes stimulating activities to build skills.
We create an environment filled with adventure, laughter, and connection and our sessions are designed to be light-hearted and fun. This setting allows us the unique opportunity as clinicians for direct observation of your child's behaviors and emotional responses. We have found that this is a powerful tool not to be underestimated. It gives us unlimited opportunities for "teachable moments" and allows us to foster change through action in the real world. We do this so that your child will be more likely to generalize and "live this learning" at home, school, and in their community.
Our team includes parents.
At TRAILS we believe parents are the PRIMARY social and emotional coach in a child's life. We've created our Parenting to Success programs to build your parenting confidence and competence. We coordinate our treatment with schools and other professionals that may be involved in your child's life. We've put together a series of programs that focus on helping parents understand and then reframe neuropsychological issues that impact their child's social and emotional functioning, and then provide practical "real life" solutions to foster success.
